David Bloomfield has been a member of Escape Artists since 2001. He has acted as an executive producer on the Escape Artist pictures Seven Pounds, Knowing and The Backup Plan. David focuses his time building partnerships with independent producers to expand Escape Artists’ slate. David also handles the business operations of the Company.
David negotiated a unique partnership agreement with Overbrook Entertainment to co produce Seven Pounds for Columbia Pictures, and recently completed putting together the deals for The Equalizer, starring Denzel Washington now set up at Columbia, and Ends of the Earth, a script written for EA by Chris Terrio (Argo) which is now set up at The Weinstein Company with Jennifer Lawrence attached to star.
Prior to joining Escape Artists, David was Senior Vice President of Business Affairs at Spelling Entertainment where he was involved in numerous television series includingBeverly Hills, 90210 and Melrose Place. He also oversaw the production of over 20 films at Spelling, including Bryan Singer’s first theatrical feature, The Usual Suspects, In and Out starring Kevin Klein and Sidney Lumet’s Night Falls on Manhattan. In 2005, David put together Jason Reitman’s first feature, Thank You For Smoking for producer David Sacks. David started his career as an attorney for Gibson Dunn & Crutcher. He is a graduate of New York University School of Law and The University of Wisconsin. He speaks conversational Japanese and Spanish, and is working on his French.
